Image Resources – Synthetic Rutile Production Test Results

We congratulate Image Resources NL on their recently announced successful trials of producing Synthetic Rutile (SR), using Ilmenite samples sourced from their Bidaminna mine, currently under development. Unlike all current SR producers in Australia, Image Resources NL is targeting using a Fluidised Bed Reactor (FBR), rather than the typical large rotary kiln using hydrogen as the reductant, in lieu of coal. Their intent is to produce and use their own “green” hydrogen, which will be a game changer in the industry from an Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) and Greenhouse Gases (GHG) perspective, in stark contrast to other SR producers, that continue to use coal as the heat source and iron reductant.

ProjX has a solid long-term working relationship with Image, from managing the construction of their Boonanarring Minesite in 2018, to providing feasibility study services for their upcoming mining projects. ProjX look forward to continuing to support Image in their exciting future.
